General Motors Recalling More Vehicles for Repairs (Voanews)

The biggest automaker in the U.S., General Motors, is recalling another 2.7 million vehicles to fix several defects.

The company said Thursday the recall covers some models manufactured between 2004 and last year. GM said it will cost the company $200 million to make the repairs, including problems with headlights, brakes and wiring corrosion.


The latest recall brings to nearly 13 million the number of vehicles GM has recalled worldwide this year.

Some of the recalls this year involve cars equipped with defective ignition switches that shut down engines while cars are being driven, disabling brakes and airbags. GM has acknowledged the ignition switch problem has caused crashes that have killed 13 people.

GM is the world's second biggest automaker behind Japan's Toyota Motor Corporation.
